Farmers’ loans acquire political overtones in Rajasthan

Free Press Journal reports it has come to light that while promising loan waivers for farmers. During the assembly elections, the Rajasthan chief minister Ashok Gehlot had only waived loans of cooperative banks but not of commercial banks.

However, with the commercial banks threatening the defaulting farmers with the auction of their agricultural lands, the matter has assumed political overtones.

Rajasthan BJP leaders have accused the Congress govt. and their leader Rahul Gandhi of walking back on promises made during the assembly elections.
