Madhya Pradesh chief minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan has urged Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and President Pranab Mukherjee to intervene to ensure funds for Nafed.
The state is having trouble as a financially weak Nafed is not able to procure Chana at minimum support price. Nafed and MP Markfed had been in serious disagreement over the procurement issue.
The procurement norms as fixed by the Nafed were tough in terms of fair average quality. The MP farmers had problems ensuring it. Earlier, Mr Chauhan had accused the central govt. of being biased against the MP farmers.
