A case of embezzlement of about three crore rupees involving a cooperative bank in Harda in Madhya Pradesh has come to light. After an inspection carried out till late at night the, authorities lodged a complaint with police.
Thursday afternoon the district authorities had come for a routine check. The branch manager was found absent during the inspection. The district authorities tried their level best to contact the branch manager but to no avail.
This roused their suspicion and the authorities sealed the branch manager’s room as well as the locker in the cash room. Later in the day when counting was done the locker had about Rs. 3 lakh only while the records showed Rs. 2.77crore.
According to the authorities, there is prima facie evidence of embezzlement and therefore the FIR is being lodged against the branch manager and the cashier.
