In a written reply in Lok Sabha, Union Home and Cooperation Minister informed that there are 8,971 cooperative societies and 2,058 PACS/LAMPS/FSS in Chhattisgarh.
“The maximum cooperative societies are in Durg district i.e. 707 and maximum PACS/LAMPS/FSS are in Mahasamund district i.e. 130”, said Shah in his reply.
He added, “A comprehensive National Cooperative Database is being developed by the Ministry of Cooperation, Government of India, with the support of State Governments.
“The data of all the Cooperative Societies from various sectors, including PACS, is being entered in the database by nodal officers appointed by the States /UTs for this purpose. So far, the data related to around 8 lakh cooperative societies has been collected, out of which 1,03,559 are PACS/ Large Area Multi-purpose Societies (LAMPS)/ Farmers Service Society (FSS)”, his reply reads.
