The High Court of Chhattisgarh has issued a contempt notice to the secretary of cooperative election commission in a matter for not conducting the election of Durg DCCB on time, reads media report.
This notice has been issued on the contempt petition filed by Preetpal Belchandan, former chairman of Durg District Co-operative Central Bank.
It is said that following the order of the High Court, the Commission had sought time to conduct the elections. The time period was fixed by the High Court on this. Even after this the elections were not held. On this, the High Court has issued a contempt notice and called for a reply.
Readers would recall that the term of the then chairman of the bank, Preetpal Belchandan, ended in June 2020. According to the rules, the election was to be held before the end of this term, but it was not conducted. Following this Belchandan knocked at the door of the High Court.
