Indian co-op dairy giant Amul has issued a consumer advisory warning of counterfeit Amul ghee in the market. The company revealed that some distributors are selling fake ghee, particularly in one-litre refill packs that Amul stopped manufacturing over three years ago.
Amul emphasized its shift to a Duplication Proof carton pack to prevent adulteration, utilizing aseptic filling technology at ISO-certified dairies for quality assurance. The company advises consumers to verify product authenticity and contact their toll-free number (1800 258 3333) with any queries.
Amul also addressed social media claims about supplying ghee to the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD), clarifying, “We have never supplied Amul Ghee to TTD.” The statement follows allegations over the use of substandard ingredients in temple offerings.
