Dhami for 33% reservation for women in co-ops

In a landmark move, the Uttarakhand government, led by Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, has mandated a 33% reservation for women in cooperative society management roles, including committee memberships and chairperson positions, claims media reports

This initiative is part of a broader commitment to women’s empowerment, highlighted by several government schemes aimed at making women self-reliant. The decision was one of twelve proposals passed in a recent cabinet meeting—the first following the Lok Sabha elections.

These included measures across urban development, finance, and education sectors, along with the establishment of the Uttarakhand Unified Metropolitan Transport Authority and reforms in various state departments.
