Hindu reports Krishnamurthy, general secretary, Tamil Nadu Cooperative Workers’ Federation has said the state govt. should immediately settle PDS arrears to enable cooperative societies to function properly. The total amount of arrears outstanding is Rs 497 crore, says the report.
According to Krishnamurti, cooperative societies are financially not in a position to disburse even wages to workers in fair price shops.
General Secretary of the federation regretted despite announcement in the assembly, the medical insurance plan for cooperative workers has not yet been implemented.
