With the Central govt still in the process of developing the idea of a pan-Indian electronic marketing platform for agricultural produce, 26 state dairy cooperatives including Amul have already begun marketing their dairy commodities on an electronic platform since June last year, reports Financial Express.
The platform promoted by National Dairy Development Board in collaboration with National Cooperative Dairy Federation of India (NCDFI) conducts weekly e-auction where cooperatives sell their produce to big private players.
Since the launch of the electronic market, more than Rs 270 crore worth of trade has already taken place. A source claims more than 220 buyers have been registered in the exchange.
State milk cooperatives including those from Bihar, Karnataka and Jalgaon milk union have claimed a major share in the eMarket.
