Maharashtra government will soon appoint an IAS as administrator to check financial irregularities and exploitation of farmers by middle-agents in dairy cooperative societies across Maharashtra, reports Indian Express.
The move is aimed to facilitate higher rates for farmers supplying milk. It also aims to end the nexus between politicians and middle-agents in the sector.
Maharashtra chief minister Fadnavis says while state-owned brands remain neglected, politicians, under the cooperative cover, are promoting their own private brands.
