The leaders associated with Bharatiya Janata Party succeeded in winning the elections of Uttar Pradesh based Sitapur Urban Cooperative Bank after a gap of 11 years.
In the elections held a few days back, Gunjan Chaudhary was elected unopposed as its Chairman whereas B M Gupta as her deputy. The newly elected Chairman is the wife of BJP leader Sharad Chaudhary.
Readers would recall that since 2012, the congress had been controlling the bank. Earlier Rampal Singh was the Chairman and in the last election held in 2018, his wife had been elected as the Chairman.
