Kota MP Om Birla, a cooperator who has served on the Board of several cooperatives is likely to the Speaker of 17th Lok Sabha. He is a BJP nominee whose candidature is being supported by other parties as well, sources say.
Besides being Chairman and Board member of several co-op bodies in the state of Rajasthan, Birla has been Vice-Chairman of NCCF in nineties.
Birla, a BJP MP from Kota-Bundi seat in Rajasthan, is all set to be elected unopposed on Wednesday when the motion seeking his election is moved in Lok Sabha, media reports say.
Birla is a two-time MP from Rajasthan and would be replacing Mrs Sumitra Mahajan.
