In a written reply in the Rajya Sabha, Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah highlighted the significant progress made under the ‘Cooperation among Cooperatives’ campaign.
The initiative has successfully facilitated the opening of over 27 lakh deposit accounts, the distribution of 9,915 Micro ATMs to Primary Dairy Cooperative Societies (PDCS) and other non-credit cooperative societies, and the issuance of RuPay Kisan Credit Cards (KCC) to more than 32 lakh cooperative society members.
A key objective of the campaign is to link Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS), PDCS, and other cooperative societies with District Central Cooperative Banks (DCCBs) and State Cooperative Banks (StCBs), enabling them to access various banking services seamlessly.
To drive economic prosperity through the vision of “Sahakar Se Samriddhi” (Prosperity through Cooperation), a pilot project was launched on May 21, 2023, in Banaskantha and Panchmahal DCCBs of Gujarat. Following its success, a statewide campaign was initiated across all districts of Gujarat on January 15, 2024.
Based on the learnings from the pilot, a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for nationwide implementation was finalized and officially launched on September 19, 2024.
