Congress Party of Gujarat has demanded a court-monitored investigation into all cooperative societies in Gujarat for alleged graft, accusing most of them are controlled by the BJP, media reports say.
Congress’s call for a special audit of all cooperative societies has come in the wake of an FIR against Dudhsagar Dairy in Mehsana for alleged corruption of Rs 800 crore. The party also called for all bureaucrats involved in irregularities in the dairy to be named in the FIR.
It bears recall that Gujarat co-ops which used to be controlled by the Congress in the past, have come to the BJP fold one after the other.
It was only recently that while attending the combined AGMs of co-ops in Rajkot, state BJP Chief patted himself on the back for the feat. CR Patil said that it was he who upset cooperative bonhomie among political parties so far as cooperative elections were concerned.
