Union Agriculture Minister Radha Mohan Singh inaugurated the Assam Krishi Unnayan Mela as well as a National Seminar on Technological Options for bringing Second Green Revolution in North East India, 2016 at Guwahati.
Singh was very harsh on the Congress govt and said that fund released by the Centre is not even used up by the state. He wondered about an amount of Rs 300 lakh released for the diary projects and questioned as to where have they gone.
Though 70% people of the area is still dependent on agriculture yet the states of north east are compelled to import food grains from outside.
There is a huge potential of agricultural growth but the incompetent govt would not exploit these, Singh said making a scathing attack on the local govt.
Modi govt is determined to usher in second green revolution through north-east, the Minister assured the assembled gathering.
