The Madhya Pradesh police department’s special task force has begun a probe into deposits of about Rs 110 crore made into savings accounts in the state’s cooperative banks after demonetization, reports HT.
STF additional director general (ADG) Ashok Awasthi confirmed that a probe of district cooperative banks in Bhopal, Gwalior and Sagar have begun.
Opposition sees in it as a vindictive move by the Congress govt to malign the reputation of BJP cooperators who controlled these DCCBs during demonetization.
Interestingly, MP State Cooperative Bank is believed to assist the govt in the probe, which many accuse as vindictive.
