It has come to light that several commercialized banks in Maharashtra had diverted the first installment of Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-Kisan) scheme to farmers’ loan accounts. The state govt. has asked banks to return the money to farmers, reports Businessline.
According to the report, three days after Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the PM-Kisan scheme, transferring the first installment of Rs 2,000 to over one crore beneficiaries, many farmers in Maharashtra complained that the amount had been debited from their account soon after it was deposited.
Many farmers are quoted saying they do not know what has happened to their money. However, an informed source says farmers will soon get their money as things are being sorted out.
