Co-ops help opposition sway power in many states

A news outlet quotes sources as saying a large number of financially strong cooperatives exist in states that are controlled by opposition parties.

It is said this is the reason why parties opposed to BJP play a crucial political role in Maharashtra, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and West Bengal.

In view of the country’s changing demography, cooperatives can also step in to offer their services to the elderly sections of society. The private sector is presently dominating the scene.
