Co-ops coming handy in rehabilitating ex-Naxals

Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah, during his visit to Jagdalpur, Chhattisgarh, emphasized the government’s commitment to empowering communities through cooperatives.

He announced a new initiative to establish dairy cooperatives by providing one cow or buffalo to each family in Naxal-affected regions, fostering economic self-reliance.

Shah highlighted the government’s rehabilitation efforts, revealing that Prime Minister Modi has approved the construction of 15,000 houses in these areas to support reintegration. He underlined that since 2019, youth in Naxal-affected, Northeastern, and Kashmir regions have chosen to abandon violence and join the mainstream, paving the way for development.

The event, attended by Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai and Deputy CM Shri Vijay Sharma, underscored cooperatives as instruments of sustainable growth and peacebuilding.
