Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah, in a written reply in the Lok Sabha, highlighted the key contributions of the proposed University on Cooperatives in enhancing the growth and professionalization of the cooperative sector.
The minister stated that the university would help provide qualified and trained manpower to meet both the present and future needs of the cooperative sector. This initiative aims to strengthen cooperative societies by equipping them with skilled professionals.
Additionally, the university will focus on training, education, and capacity building for employees and board members of cooperative societies at all levels. By offering structured learning programs, it aims to enhance governance and operational efficiency within cooperatives.
To extend its reach, the university will provide distance learning and mass e-learning platforms, ensuring that cooperative societies across the country have access to quality education and training resources.
Furthermore, the institution will work on standardizing course design, content, pedagogy, and course delivery in cooperative education and training. These efforts will align cooperative learning with national and international best practices, ensuring consistency and excellence in cooperative management education.
