The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) has arrested five individuals from Cooperative Society Dhuga Kalan and Cooperative Bank Rupowal, Hoshiarpur, for fraudulently securing loans in the name of a deceased member, reports media outlets.
The arrested include Yudhveer Singh, former inspector at Cooperative Bank Dasuya, and Ravinder Singh, clerk-cum-cashier at Cooperative Bank Rupowal. Also apprehended were retired cashiers and managers, including Manjit Singh and Avtar Singh.
The arrests follow an investigation into a complaint about a loan of Rs 1.92 lakh taken in the name of deceased member Gulzar Singh. The accused were found to have colluded to obtain and misuse the loan funds.
