Co-op societies get stalls in Kolkata Authority

The New Town Kolkata Development Authority (NKDA) has decided to offer agricultural cooperative societies stalls in New Town to sell fresh vegetables to customers directly, reports Times of India.

The agricultural co-operative societies from North and South 24-Parganas will be provided with stalls on concessional rentals, the New Town officials say.

Officials claim agricultural farming cooperatives are being encouraged so that both the farmers and residents of New Town are benefited. Many more such farming cooperatives or self-help groups will be encouraged to sell fresh vegetables directly so they could do their business without middlemen, officials say.
