Addressing the valedictory session of the golden jubilee of Visheshwar Cooperative Bank, NCP supremo Sharad Pawar said contrary to the general belief non-cooperative banks accounted for more than 90 percent of irregularities while cooperative ones for a mere 0.46 percent, media reports say.
Pawar said he was worried about the cooperative sector being the target of unfair criticism.
According to Pawar, there is a stubborn misconception that cooperators are invariably involved in wrong doings.
Pawar emphasized the fact that cooperative banks worked for the weaker sections of society.
