Co-op scamsters sent to jail

jailA court in Delhi has sentenced half a dozen retired public servants to one year imprisonment in the Rs 4,000 crore cooperative group housing society scam. The latter came to light in the 70s.

The court has sentenced the seventh convict who was a private person to three years’ imprisonment on various charges under IPC. The court has held all of them guilty of criminal misconduct including cheating and forgery.

The court said all the seven convicts had fraudulently tried to revive the already liquidated Anand CGHS by forging documents and showing non-existent members.

According to CBI, Anand CGHS was allotted a land in Pitampura by DDA in 1975 for a token amount but due to the failure of the society to pay the remaining amount, it was liquidated by RCS.
