Most of the ordinary farmers pay their loans taken from cooperative banks but important people refuse to repay. This trend is widespread in Vikarabad in Telangana, reports Hans India.
Sources say cooperative banks are not able to recover dues from important people as these people use their political clout to thwart banks’ pressure.
The District Cooperative Central Bank has 26 bank branches and 49 cooperative societies, which have over 61,216 farmers as members.
NPAs are becoming a big problem for all cooperative banks.
