In a notable bureaucratic development, the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has empanelled two seasoned IAS officers—Deepak Agarwal of the Uttar Pradesh cadre and Manju Rajpal of the Rajasthan cadre—for appointment to the post of Additional Secretary in the Government of India, according to a delayed news coming to the Indian Cooperative desk.
Both officers belong to the 2000 batch and bring with them a wealth of experience and an impressive track record of public service.
Deepak Agarwal, currently serving as the Managing Director of the National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation of India Ltd (NAFED), was appointed to the role in October 2024 for a five-year tenure.
An IAS officer of the Uttar Pradesh cadre, Agarwal has held several critical administrative roles, both in the state and at the Centre, particularly in the housing and urban development sectors.
Manju Rajpal, a dynamic IAS officer from the Rajasthan cadre, has been serving as the Principal Secretary and Registrar of the Cooperative Department in the Rajasthan Government since September 2024.
Known for her administrative acumen and commitment to inclusive development, Rajpal has held prominent positions including Commissioner of the Jaipur Development Authority, Secretary of the Rural Development Department, and District Magistrate of Ajmer. Her elevation to the Additional Secretary level highlights the Centre’s recognition of her outstanding service and policy-making capabilities.
The empanelment of Agarwal and Rajpal marks a significant step toward strengthening governance at the senior-most levels of the Indian administrative machinery.
