Laying the foundation stone for Matsya Sampada, the headquarters of the federation at Urvastore, Udupi Pejawar Mutt seer Vishwaprsanna Tirtha said a cooperative system was the most trusted way of ensuring society’s peace and prosperity, reports the Hindu.
He quoted Lord Krishna saying He was the first to have put into words the philosophy of cooperation when he urged everyone to be helpful to others.
Describing fishermen as a hardworking community, the seer said the cooperative federation would bring about a transformation in the lives of its members.
Several important persons attended the function including local MLAs.
