Speaking at a meeting in Patna, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar warned action against Primary Agriculture Cooperative Societies (PACS) that indulged in irregularities, reports PTI.
The meeting was held to review the paddy procurement drive for the year 2017-18. Nitish Kumar said his govt. would ensure farmers got maximum benefits from paddy procurement.
A source was quoted saying 40 PACS/Vyapar Mandals have been provided with dryer machines to deal with the problem of high moisture content.
Sources also claimed Bihar government had provided cooperative banks with Rs 600 crore and for additional requirements, these banks could take loans from institutions like NABARD for which the government would provide guarantee.
Several dignitaries including deputy chief minister and cooperative minister attended the meeting.
