Sahakar Sammelan, a co-operative summit – the first of its kind aimed at bolstering the co-operative sector in Goa was held Sunday at Mapusa. The cooperative meet discussed a road map for the development of the co-operative sector. There are nearly four thousand co-operative societies in the state, reports Times of India.
Goa chief minister said on the occasion a rapid growth of the cooperative sector would greatly help Goa grow into a successful state. The chief minister urged women to join the cooperative movement in a big way.
Minister for co-operation, Mahadev Naik said government has taken various steps including skill development to boost the cooperative sector in Goa. The minister promised the state govt. would do away with the rules and regulation not conducive to the growth of the cooperative sector in the state.
Over 5000 delegates from all over Goa took part in the summit.
