Goa Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant took part in the 60th-anniversary program of the Goa State Cooperative Bank in Panaji on Friday last week. State Cooperation Minister Subhash Shirodkar was also present, along with several other dignitaries.
While addressing the participants, Sawant said, “The Goa Co-op Bank ltd. has not only grown in size but has also evolved in its role as a critical player in Goa’s economic development”, he said.
“The bank grew despite seeing a challenging time for a while, and regrouped to this position with better coordination between the Govt and the institution and shall grow further.” he added.
The CM further said “Under the leadership of Hon’ble PM Shri Narendra Modi Ji, Union Cooperation Ministry is formed under the helm of Hon’ble Minister Shri Amit Shah, which is bringing about transformation in the sector with proposed Cooperation policy, digitization of co-operative institutions. I urge the Bank and Co-operatives to take the concept to the youth for expanding its scope and operation”, he noted.
“I congratulate the founding members, and all the members in the history of 60 years and current members for building this institution. My best wishes to the bank for a bright future”, Sawant said.
The Goa State Cooperative Bank, which has struggled with losses in recent years, has shown consistent improvement and achieved satisfactory profitability for the 2023-24 financial year.
