Maharashtra based Chikhali Urban Cooperative Bank has handed over a cheque of Rs 2 lakh to the widow of one of its account holders who died due to accident. The cheque was given by the bank Chairman Satish Gupta on Monday at its headquarters.
Sharing the details to Indian Cooperative Gupta said, “In our bank we are providing a protection cover to all the account holders who have Rs 1,000 deposits in their Saving Accounts. We are not taking any premium from these A/C holders but we are giving accidental coverage of Rs 2 Lakh. For this we have tied up with Bajaj Alliance Insurance”, he informed.
Gupta, however regretted that due to lack of awareness among the family member, it took over 2 years to settle his claim. The deceased Uttam Hade had a saving account at Chikhali main branch and he met with an accident in 2016.
More than 40,000 account holders are associated with Chikhali bank.
