In a high-voltage drama Chairman of Goa-based Bardez Bazaar Cooperative Society Jaiwant Naik was voted out at a special meeting held on the direction of the Goa High Court last week, reports The Navhind Times.
Out of 14 board members 13 voted in favor of the motion. The no confidence motion was moved by Dharma Chodonar and other directors on the board.
The special meeting was presided over by Mapusa Assistant Registrar. Several Directors were however unhappy at the turn of events and said in the 27 years of its history issues were resolved amicably but this is for the first time that a chairman has been voted out.
Earlier, the Registrar of co-operative societies had rejected the no-confidence motion passed by the Directors of the co-op society citing a complaint pending against them. Ruling against the Registrar’s decision, the High Court asked the co-op department to conduct the process of the motion which led to Naik’s removal.
