Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan announced that the Central Government has completely removed the 20% export duty on onions.
He emphasized that the Modi Government remains committed to farmers’ welfare by ensuring fair and remunerative prices. Initially, a 40% duty was imposed, which was later reduced to 20% when onion prices fell.
Now, with its complete removal, Indian farmers can export onions duty-free, helping them secure better prices in global markets. This decision aims to support farmers and boost agricultural exports, reinforcing the government’s pro-farmer policies.
