Welcoming the newly elected Chairman Ramsinhbhai Parmar of GCMMF popularly called Amul, the Managing Director of the dairy co-op giant GCMMF said “We are extremely happy to have him as the Chairman”.
Explaining his effusive reaction, Sodhi said there are few who can match his experience in the dairy co-operative sector in the country. “He is the longest serving Director on the GCMMF board”, Sodhi said reckoning Parmar’s 40 years in the sector.
A seasoned cooperator Parmar was elected unanimously on Monday by the Board of 18 milk unions. All the milk unions are being controlled by BJP, though the Party’s popularity nosedived among dairy voters in the last Assembly elections.
Parmar is the chairman of Kaira milk union and was the lone Congress strongman in the region till recently. He joined BJP and fought Assembly election unsuccessfully. He has, however, been rewarded by Monday’s election in which, a source claims the BJP’s High Command was involved.
Sodhi who is credited with increasing Amul’s growth many folds in his tenure, looks forward to work with the new Chairman with enthusiasm. “His vast experience would help us achieve our dream of reaching Rs 50,000 crore by 2020”, stated Sodhi.
