The Central Arecanut and Cocoa Marketing and Processing Cooperative (Campco) president SR Satishchandra, has urged the government to execute the FPO (farmer producer organisation) model to upgrade PACS in the country, reports Hindu Businessline.
Speaking at the concluding session of an online training program organised by the Kasaragod-based Central Plantation Crops Research Institute (CPCRI), Satishchandra said the Central govt would form 10,000 FPOs in the country. The EPOs would play an important role in the growth of the farm sector, he said.
The Campco president said there are about 93,000 PACS in the country and all the benefits of FPOs should be extended to them. He also called upon the CPCRI to hold online training programs for other plantation crops such as arecanut and cocoa.
