Hailing the union budget 2020, GCMMF Managing Director R S Sodhi said that its an excellent budget and will bring more investments in the dairy sector which will increase farmers bargaining power to get better prices for their produce.
Sodhi also made a statement on the subject of job creation in the budget which was contested widely on social media. MD said that if done properly the provisions of the budget will create 80 lcs jobs in Rural India and 16 lcs jobs in Urban India. While some agreed with him there were others who were skeptical.
Amul which suffered due to being a cooperative in the past, had a relief in this budget when the FM announced parity in income tax between cooperative and corpotae. Expresiing his happiness ,Sodhi wrote “Budget 2020, welcome step treating Cooperative societies equal to corporates by reducing IT from 33% to 22%, it will encourage coops into increasing their profitability.”
Sodhi was also upbeat on the issue of MNREGS to be dovetailed with fodder farms.
“The move will improve greed fodder availability to milk producers and thus reduce the cost of production on the one had and linking employment generation on the other ”, he felt.
FM’s declaration that Foot and Mouth Disease, Brucellosis in cattle and Peste Des Petits ruminants (PPR) in sheep and goat would be eliminated by 2025, was also welcomed by Sodhi who tweeted his thanks “ Hon’ble Minister of Finance and Corporate Affairs stated that #GOI will focus on increasing #Artificial Insemination significantly in the #AnimalHusbandrySector, from 30% to 70% across #NewIndia!”
