Reiterating the basic duty of co-operatives, a Brahmin Co-op Credit Society in Andhra Pradesh has vowed to save workers, engaged in making Prasadam for Lord Sri Venkateswar, from the clutches of money-lenders.
Tirupati based Andhra Pradesh Brahmin Co-Operative Credit Society (APBCCS) will give financial support to TTD Potu workers, to help them meet their families’ basic needs, reports Hans India.
There are 806 workers including 600 working under Sri Venkateswara Potu Workers Labour Contract Cooperative Society and 206 working with Srivari Additional Potu Workers Society producing sweets for Lord Venkateswra, Tirumala.
Sources say most of these workers are facing serious financial problems because they have to pay a lot of interest on the loans they have taken from private moneylenders.
It is worthy of mention that most of these workers are extremely poor Brahmins.
