BMC names Road after Bharat Co-op Bank’s late Chairman

Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation named Goregaon East Station Road as the Late Jaya Suvarna Road, who was the Chairman of one of the leading banks namely Bharat Cooperative Bank for more than two decades.

Readers would recall that Jaya C. Suvarna passed away in Mumbai last year in October. He was 74. He is survived by his wife and four sons.

Suvarna had been instrumental in expanding the Bharat Cooperative Bank from 3 to 100-plus branches in Maharashtra, Gujarat, and Karnataka. He is always fondly remembered for his contributions to the cooperative sector.

The Maharashtra minister Subhas Desai presided over the meeting held on the occasion.
