In response to a PIL, Patna High Court has summoned cooperative department principal secretary for non-payment of crop insurance claim to several farmers of Sheohar district under Weather Based Crop Insurance Scheme (WBCIS) of the central government even after four years of its implementation, reports Times of India.
Under the scheme, the central and state government, along with farmers were to pay their share of premium in different ratio. But in the particular case, no records are available to show if the state government had paid its part of the premium or not.
The central government and farmers have already paid their share required for the insurance. The PIL had been filed by Jai Narayan Rai, Ajay Kumar Singh and Krishna Nandan Prasad residents of Sheaohar district a couple of years ago.
