Nabard officials recently carried out an inspection of State Cooperative Bank in Pondicherry following a direction from Lieutenant Governor Kiran Bedi, reports Hindu.
There had surfaced complaints about mismanagement of banks when the Lieutenant Governor had recently reviewed the functioning of cooperative banks.
Nabard would now audit the accounts of banks twice a year, instead of once.
The Lieutenant Governor has asked the banks not to disburse loans under pressure and stick to the banking guidelines.
