Bharatiya Beej Sahakari Samiti Limited (BBSSL) has enrolled 14,816 cooperatives as members, including 190 from Odisha, showcasing strong participation since its establishment under the Multi-State Cooperative Societies (MSCS) Act, 2002.
Promoted by IFFCO, KRIBHCO, NAFED, NDDB, and NCDC, BBSSL has an initial paid-up capital of Rs 250 crore and an authorized capital of Rs 500 crore.
It aims to enhance seed production, distribution, and conservation through a cooperative network, promoting indigenous seeds, reducing imports, and boosting crop yields. By focusing on seed production, testing, branding, and preservation, BBSSL supports rural development, “Make in India,” and Atmanirbhar Bharat.
Members benefit through better prices, high-yielding seeds, and up to 20% dividends. The society allocates up to 50% of its surplus for member benefits, driving cooperative-led growth.
