Ban on plastic straw to spike input cost: Amul

Media reports say Amul dairy cooperative is likely to face disruptions and a spike in input costs from July this year following the central govt government banning plastic straws.

Amul MD RS Sodhi is quoted as saying the cooperative has yet to find a solution to the problem. Paper variant is not feasible, Sodhi said.

On the occasion Sodhi also informed that milk cooperative Amul executed sales of 610 billion rupees ($8.04 billion) in 2021-22, selling various milk-based beverages in small packs with straws.
