The Muvattupuzha Vigilance Court in Kerala recently ordered a preliminary investigation into an alleged embezzlement of funds indulged in by as many as 34 functionaries including incumbent and former board members and secretaries associated with the Balagram Service Cooperative Bank in Idukki, reports Indian Express.
The court ordered the probe on a complaint filed by Santhosh K S of Udumbanchola who alleged the respondents defrauded the cooperative bank by misusing their position as public servants.
The complaint, among other things, mentions misappropriation executed in the form of cheque collections, issuing loans without guarantee, loans granted on fake documents and officers’ recruitment after accepting bribe.
