While IFFCO MD Dr US Awasthi was busy meeting farmers on the highlands of Ladakh and Leh on Wednesday, back home in his village in Unnao district Bhandara was being organized to feed farmers and their families on this day. It was Awasthi’s birthday which many in his team did not know but his villagers cannot forget.
“He has given so much to us villagers; how can we forget this date”, said Ankit Parihar an IFFCO delegate from the area after sending scores of photographs to Indian Cooperative. Not only this village but also the district of Unnao is proud of producing a man like him who is on a mission to change the lives of farmers, added Parihar who is known to have a flair for speech making.
A self-effacing man Awasthi himself kept quite on social media and did not mention even once about his birthday.
His native village Baiswara wore a festive look on the occasion, however. Hundreds of men , women and children could be seen sitting on the ground and partaking of food. Huge banners with words like “Baiswara ke lal tum jiyo hazaron saal “ were placed to lend a festive color to the atmosphere.
And Ankit Parihar was not the lone organizer as his fans vied with each other to have a quality show. Havan and Pooja for his long life were held on the occasion.
Indian Cooperative also joins others in wishing him many many happy returns of the day!
