Assam’s cooperative minister Atul Bora recently introduced the Assam Cooperative Societies (Amendment) Bill, 2021 in the state assembly, reports PTI.
The bill seeks to remove the provision in the principal act that permitted registration of any society under the act in an area where there exists cooperative societies with similar objectives, However, such societies can be registered with special permission.
The amendment, aims to bring competitiveness and professionalism among cooperatives and end monopoly.
