India’s noted social scientist Ashis Nandi has come out in support of Karnataka’s Gandhian and noted thespian Prasanna Heggodu’s fast-unto-death demanding zero tax on handmade products, reports Times of India.
Earlier, professor Nandi as the chair of a committee on the issue had urged the central government to end tax with no turnover limit on handmade products marketed by producer cooperative societies, self help groups and their federations.
Meanwhile, Karnataka chief minister said his office is in contact with the fasting actor to formulate the state govt’s stand to be put forward at the GST council.
