Hindu reports the nationwide lockdown has terribly affected the arecanut growers in the country.
With procurement and marketing activities suspended, small and marginal growers are facing serious financial difficulties.
Sources clued in to the sector say it will take at least three months for the market to recover.
Meanwhile Mahesh Puchhappady, general secretary, All-India Areca Growers’ Association, Puttur, Dakshina Kannada, said that farmers should not resort to panic selling after the lockdown is lifted.
