Speaking to journalists, Union Minister of State Anantkumar Hegde said a delegation would soon meet Union Health Minister J.P. Nadda and submit him documents that support medicinal properties of arecanut, reports Hindu.
The minister said the delegation would also meet Union Agriculture Minister Radha Mohan Singh.
According to the minister, the stakeholders will have all the necessary documents supporting therapeutic value of arecanut.
The issue of arecanut being carcinogenic and therefore harmful to human health gaining attention in news reports has caused concern among arecanut consumers.
