The Maharashtra government has formed a committee to examine the consequences of COVID-19 for the three-tier cooperative credit system in the state, reports Free Press Journal.
Given there are more than 2 lakh cooperative organizations with 5.5 crore members, Rs 3.5 lakh crore floating capital and over 3 lakh employees, the committee’s study will be extremely important.
The committee is expected to submit its report within two months. A top ranking cooperative official Anil Kawade chairs the committee.
Similarly, veteran co-operator Vidyadhar Anaskar has been tasked with the job of finding corona impact on UCBs.
