Amul has firmed up a Rs 200 crore new processing plant in West Bengal a state with a great potential in terms of raw material and demand for the dairy industry, reports Press Trust of India.
GCMMF MD R S Sodhi said Amul would make all possible efforts to exploit this potential. He added Amul is willing to help the state government with knowhow and technical support in increasing milk production.
West Bengal produces five million tonnes of raw milk against a demand of 10-12 million tonne. Amul is likely to set up a centralised milk processing plant at Sankrail food park in Howrah.
